Setup

Can players change roles after the cards are dealt?

  • No, the roles are assigned before dealing cards. Only switch cards can change the roles.

What determines who goes first?

  • The players decide that together base on what seems most strategically beneficial.

What happens when a stack starts with a bridge?

  • Any player can put a 12 or a 1 on it regardless of their role.

Can Two Stacks be a single player game?

  • Yes, in this case one person controls two hands and the rules are the same as a two player game.

Cards

What happens when a stack begins with a bridge and an additional bridge is played on it?

  • Any player can now play an 11 or a 2 on it regardless of their role.

Can bridges only jump up or down a number?

  • Yes. A 5 with a bridge on it can only have a 7 or a 3 played on it. The numbers 6 and 4 have been jumped and can no longer be played.

How do the Upward/Downward roles interact with special cards?

  • They are limited by whether a number is above or below the special card. For example: the Upward player can play a 6, 8, 10, or 12 on a special 5 but not a 2 or a 4; the Downward player can play the opposite of that.

Turns

Does a player have to play a card on their turn?

  • No, but it is required that a card be played before a player can pass cards.

Is there a limit to how many cards a player can draw?

  • Only the hand limit of seven cards limits the card draw phase.

Does the game end when the deck runs out of cards?

  • No. Turns continue but players may only pass cards if they play a card first. The game only ends when all players are stuck (loss) or all players have played all the cards in their hands (win).
